These numbers are estimates. They assume you follow the plan exactly and stop buying at your old rate, so treat them as a guide, not a promise. This isn't medical advice. For help quitting, talk to a doctor, pharmacist or your local quit service.

How the plan steps down

Your daily limit starts at the number of puffs you take now. It drops by the same amount each week until it reaches 0 on your quit date, which is today plus the number of weeks you pick.

Each week's limit is your starting count × (1 − week number ÷ total weeks), rounded to the nearest whole puff. It's the same calculation the CutPuff app uses to build your plan.

For example, if you take 200 puffs a day and pick 6 weeks, your daily limits are 200, 167, 133, 100, 67, 33, then 0 from your quit date.

The projections compare each day's limit with your starting count, as if you follow the plan exactly. From your quit date on, every day counts your full starting count. In the example, that's 13,100 puffs avoided in the first 90 days. Money saved uses your weekly spend divided by the puffs in a week at your starting pace.

Why cut down gradually?

The NHS says cutting down gradually can make quitting vaping easier. Its guide suggests slowly lowering the nicotine strength of your liquid, leaving more time between vapes, and making some places vape-free.

It also describes quitting in one step, so cutting down is one way to do it, not the only one. If you're not sure which suits you, a doctor, pharmacist or local quit service can help you decide.

What if I go over my limit?

Going over your limit happens. Pick up from your next puff: one heavy day doesn't change your plan.

If you go over your limit three days in a row, the CutPuff app offers to stretch your plan by a week. You can also move your quit date in your plan whenever you need to.
